Out of Africa!

Rafiki Reports
We took a short break during our 2-day crusade in Nyamisebehi Village (Tanzania) last December to travel to the nearby village of Lwamugasa. Susan, the wife of Pastor Amos there, had been suffering for 10 years from an issue of blood and was extremely frail and weak. As we prayed for her, she felt the healing virtue of God flow through her body and was instantly stronger. Amos reports that a few days later, her legs were swollen, but through the faith gained that day they persevered in prayer and now she is completely fine!

Another miracle occurred as we prayed at Rev. Kitula's home in Igoma Village. One of the daughters of Regional Elder Constantin Matta had suffered for many years from an inverted sternum (curved inwards instead of flat)! She hadn't been able to sleep through the night in many years, because every time she would roll over, she would wake instantly from pain! As we prayed, one of the ladies could feel her sternum straighten out right under her hand! She slept all through the night and has felt fine ever since. Not only that, but she is taking teams into villages to pray for the sick! Praise God for His mercy!

Touches from the Father!
I have struggled since I was 9 to get control over my crippling anxiety. I was on 14 different medications to control stroke symptoms, blindness, muscle disorders and chronic pain due to migraines; all due to uncontrollable anxiety. At 37 I was a 50 year old woman and my doctor's question mark.

I am amazed at the healing He has given me through your ministry. When I had no faith to believe anymore you prayed for perfect truth. Days later I saw through His eyes the way I had been treating myself for something that wasn't my fault. It just made sense to stop, that simple. So, I chose to be compassionate towards myself, God took over the rest and my life began as the migraines ended.

I then put faith into action and applied to university and just found out I'm accepted for January. Now I can use the brain God intended me to use. I laugh more, am less serious, and treat myself with more respect.

I was still fighting anxiety so I got more prayer Friday night. Although I don't comprehend the spiritual world, I know that something changed; something that only God could do. I'm no longer anxious. The chronic arthritic pain is gone! I can breathe easier, like I'm not weighted down. And I'm not vibrating with anxiousness.

I have never experienced God in this way before and I am in awe of what He can do. I also wanted to encourage you to continue sharing the way you do. You speak in a way that is easy to comprehend and without condemnation and pride but with encouragement. You present the gospel in a way that is both humble and inspiring. It is evident the servant attitude that you have within you.

Many blessings,
K. - 11/22/04

P.S. Looking back a couple months I'm so thankful I chose not to go back to my medium/fortunetelling lifestyle I left 6 years ago. Just as it became too much to bear, He lifted it! Now I understand why we need to be in fellowship with each other and meet together to encourage, to believe, to witness and to pray.

I have to say as I continue experiencing more and more freedom on a daily basis, it has given me faith to believe that my family will eventually come to know Him too. Being first-generation Christian is an honour but I'd sure like to share the journey with them so they can see it's not about fear, manipulation and control but rather peace, joy and freedom.

Salubrious Servings!
God's Desire for Many Christlike Sons
by Steve Trullinger

God has made it clear throughout his Word that his desire is for us to become like his firstborn son, Jesus. From Genesis (Gen. 1:26) to Revelation (Rev. 21:7), he gives us a kaleidoscope of perspectives on this particular desire of his heart. It is significant that the very first recorded "conversation" of God amongst the Godhead, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness,..." (Gen. 1:26), expresses this desire and intent. Even near the end of the biblical record he says yet again that the overcomers will be his sons (Rev. 21:7). Between these two passages, God continues all through his Word to emphasize and reemphasize that he desires many sons, each of whom will become conformed to his image.

As the firstborn among many brethren (Rom. 8:29), Christ is the ultimate model for our very nature. We know that this process is not left to "chance", but is being carried out purposefully by the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 3:18). Because God is faithful, he will ensure that our progression toward Christlikeness continues to completion (Phil. 1:6). Because God is integral, there is nothing in him that is contradictory. Thus, if he says that he will make us like Christ, that must be his intent, since he is not double-minded (Num. 23:19).

In addition to the clear expression all through his Word of his desire to make us like Christ, we can also support this conclusion by appealing to the nature of our Father. Because he is a loving father, he withholds nothing good from those (his sons) whose walk is blameless (Ps. 84:11). Because we are hidden in Christ (Col. 3:3) and as such there is no condemnation for us (Rom.8:1), it is possible for us to walk without blame, and indeed, our walk in the manner of Jesus is evidence that we are in him (1 Jn. 2:5b-6). Therefore, God will withhold nothing good from us and, indeed, he will give us Christlikeness! What could be better than this best gift of all?

We also know that it is the desire of the Lord that we share in his joy (Mt. 25: 21). In fact, he has said (Jn. 15: 11) that his desire is that that joy be complete! It is impossible to share in the complete joy of the Lord unless we are like him, and indeed, because he lives in us (Gal. 2:20) we have become and are becoming like him, able to share in his joy. He invites us to share his nature and, hence his reward, as co-heirs with him in the Kingdom ( Rom. 8:17). This reflects the giving heart of God, in that he is unable to keep good things to himself, but is compelled by his love for us to share all that he has. If any obstacle is in the way of our receiving all that he has for us, he will remove it as we yield to the magnificent transformation of our very nature into that of his Firstborn.

God's desire is that his sons populate the earth (Gen. 1:28) and display his glory to all of creation (Rom. 8:19). This incredible display of God's glory is manifested through the multiplied showcases known as his sons and can only occur as we, like Jesus, reflect the very nature of God. Jesus said that he has given the disciples his glory (Jn. 17: 22). Christ is in us and his glory is concomitant with his holiness. Will it reside in any vessel that is not like him? When he comes in glory, how will he be displayed simultaneously to the entire earth? He shall display himself through the sons of God as a powerful demonstration of his magnificence, mercy, and might! With such incredible majesty about to be displayed in all the earth, any desire of man inconsistent with this over-arching desire of God to make us Christlike will be washed away as surely as the ocean tide sweeps away fleeting footprints in the sand.
